The Chalikounas area (Chalikounas beach & Korission Lagoon) on the sun-set side of Corfu is known for its peaceful and unspoiled natural setting. It's a nice place to relax and enjoy Corfu's coastal landscape.
At Chalikounas, you can find the Korission Lagoone, which is surrounded by nature and has sand dunes, a sandy beach that is 7 kilometers long, and many different plants and birds.
Visitor are asked to respect the beaches natural environment and follow local rules to protect the delicate ecosystem.

Halikunas beach is distinguished by its long stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear waters. It is surrounded by a natural setting of olive trees, shrubs, and lagoons that are all a part of the Natura 2000 protected area. It is backed by sand dunes. On Corfu, a place apart!
Chalikounas Beach is acknowledged for its ecological significance and serves as a nesting site for multiple species of sea turtles. Chalikounas Beach is undeveloped, but it does have some basic amenities for visitors, such as three tavernas that serve local food and drinks, a beach bar, and sunbeds and umbrellas for rent.
A protected nature reserve, the Korission Lagoon includes Chalikounas Beach. The lagoon is a well-liked location for hiking and birdwatching, and it is home to a variety of bird species, including flamingos.

Halikunas Beach is easily accessible by car or bike. It is also possible to reach the beach by public transportation and by walking along the footpath from the villages Agios Matheus or Moraitika.
